Sundridge Park Red Matchplay Brings The Best Out In Our Little Stars!

Sundridge Park staged a Mini Red Matchplay this afternoon for some of our aspiring Mini Red players. For most of the children it was their first match experience. The matches were all played in a great spirit and some of the tennis was breathtaking! Well done to all of you that played. I am sure your parents were all so proud of you....I certainly was! Well done to you all!

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Sports Relief Easter Challenge last night. A great time was had by all. The Adults and Juniors battled it out in challenges over 4 courts, while Steve and Sue cooked up a storm in the kitchen. The evening concluded with chocolate eggs and a spot of dancing!

Big thanks to Steve and Sue, all the assistants and Lou Anand for her amazing face painting!

Sundridge Park was blessed with glorious sunshine for todays Sport Relief Doubles tournament. 20 competitors stood toe to toe for 5 rounds of doubles matches. There was some fantastic tennis played, all in great spirit and lots of laughs and fun was had by all! Rupert Dalton pipped Vince Grima to the Men's title and Ivonne Goffin won her 2nd tournament running at the Club, with Aliza finishing a close second. We all had a wonderful lunch afterwards and raised £126 in the process for Sports Relief! Watch this space for our next tournament!

Great Turn Out For Junior Xmas Special!!

Despite the chilly weather it was great to see so many juniors out at the Junior Xmas Special. Huge thanks to Carolyn Everitt for once again transforming the Clubhouse with her amazing decorations - lots of wonderful touches! There were only 5 adults for the Davis Cup challenge, but an abundance of juniors, so we lent the adults some of the juniors. Perhaps we gave them to many of our top ones as the adults gained revenge from our last encounter, winning by 2 points! Huge thanks to all that played - it was a great spectacle and the kids loved it!

JUNIORS OVERCOME ADULTS AGAIN (BY A WHISKER!) AT SUNDRIDGE PARKS HALLOWEEN NIGHT!

I am still buzzing from a brilliant evening last Friday at the Clubs Halloween night! It was fantastic to see how many children and adults came in fancy dress....I even grew some horns and replaced my tennis racket with a trident! Our 2 winners (seen pictured below) of the best costumes go to Serena and Emily....don't they look awesome! The clubhouse was more like a haunted house....This was all down to Carolyn Everitt who spent most of Friday (and the days before) getting all the decorations in place, she certainly isn't short of creativity!....huge thanks to Carolyn!! Talking of other talents a big thank you must go to our amazing face painter Louise...we are so lucky to have her at our events!

And lastly a big well done to our Clubs juniors (pictured below) who narrowly got past our seniors in the Davis Cup challenge. Some of the tennis was breath taking and played in such good spirits...well apart from a few of Nick Lambrou's line calls! Thanks to all the adults that played and made it so much fun for our juniors....all of the children said they want to do it every week....winning is fun after all!! :-)

SUNDRIDGE PARK WINS LTA TEAM CHALLENGE!!

Sundridge Park hosted an LTA Team Challenge event this afternoon on our new hard courts and were blessed with lovely weather. We had teams from Bromley Cricket Club and Blackheath Tennis Club as well as 2 of our own. For some of the children it was their first tournament experience and I have to say everyone did incredibly well and I was very proud. All matches were played in great spirits and some of the tennis was outstanding! We had many parents basking in the sunshine with glasses on wine in hand - a great time had by all. Big thanks to Carolyn Everitt for helping me host the tournament. Pictured here are all the competitors and our own victorious team of Kush Ruparellia, James Kelly, Zahra De Souza and Anna Kamstrup....Well done you superstars!!

Tennis Xpress Class Are Flying!!

The lovely weather certainly inspired our Tennis Xpress players yesterday at Sundridge Park. We worked on technical shape and grip changes on forehands and backhands. Due to their steep improvement curve we tried rallying and they were awesome! Marie had our top rally of 54, which miffed her husband Jon! We finished with 2 great games of wipe out and some of the fist pumping and wild celebrations when winning points made Rafael Nadal seem tame! Looking forward to mastering volleys and smashes next week!!

Ivonne Goffin Wins Improvers Doubles Tournament at Sundridge Park!

A big well done to everyone that played in the Midweek Improvers tournament. We had lovely weather throughout and fun was had by all. A special mention to Maureen Mcbain and Adriana Mirica who were playing in their first ever tournament!  There was great tennis played by all, with interceptions, lobs, drop volleys, smashes and lots of laughter!! Congratulations go to our winner Ivonne Goffin and to the runners up Ian Dallaway and Lisa Cahill. A big thank you to my mother who helped organise it. Watch this space for further tournaments!
