Quorn Cup

The sun came out for the Quorn Cup Tournament. Twenty pairs of parents and children between 6-10 slugged it out with mini red balls, small rackets and small courts! There were smiles all round - it was a fantastic afternoon.

Well done to all the children and adults who took part, you were great sports! And we mustn't forget a congratulations to our winners Jon England and Alex and runners up Paulo and Paulo (Junior).

Watch this space for more fun and games!

Family Night & Davis Cup Rematch

familynight2.jpg

Richard's prematch speech before the Davis Cup Rematch clearly mesmerised the Juniors! Check out the eyes!!

It was a great night with lots of Juniors enjoying their tennis from the youngsters in Family Night to the older juniors in the Davis Cup Rematch. The adults must have been practising hard for this date, as this time they drew! Roll on the next one....

Big thank you to all who were involved..

Big Welcome to Anna

We are delighted to announce that WAM Tennis has a new coach - Anna Chwiejczak!

Anna will be joining us, as of the 21st April, and comes to us from Bromley Lawn Tennis Club. Anna was a nationally ranked player in her native Poland and is a Level 3 coach, working towards Level 4. Anna will be Head of Performance Coaching and we are so excited to have her join us.

Anna will be available for private coaching as well as leading many established junior and adults sessions. She will also be leading our popular Friday Family Night sessions which will recommence on Friday 28th April!

I'm sure you will join with us in giving Anna a very warm welcome!

Red Nose Juniors v Adults Davis Cup Challenge at Sundridge Park!

We had an exceptional turnout for the juniors v adults Red Nose Davis Cup challenge, with the juniors taking victory, despite the adults winning the last relay event (with some clever manipulation of the rules!)

Special thanks to all that made cakes, Carolyn Everitt, Anna Wilson and everyone else that helped out. A huge thank you to Louise Anand (Loonar Designs) for doing the face painting (which was incredible!) at no charge to the Club.

The Club raised £400 for Red Nose and took £800 behind the bar. The clubhouse was rocking all evening and a fantastic time was had by all!

Serena beats her previous best rally of 15 with 53 today at Sundridge Park!!

Serena had the most fantastic lesson today. We are seen here celebrating her new personal best rally of 53 hitting all forehands and a rally of 35 alternating forehands and backhands! We are also celebrating that she has now moved up to the next level Mini Red class on Mondays. Well done Serena - and with a name like hers, she just has to be a tennis star!!

Brighter Ideas Charity Event At The National Tennis Centre With Marcus Willis!

The weekend before last I took part in a 24 hour charity event at the National Tennis Centre. Brighter Ideas (led by Danny Sapsford, ex Davis Cup player) raised £34,000 towards helping tennis Clubs facilities around the country. There were a host of ex and current Davis Cup players taking part, including Marcus Willis (seen on adjacent court of photo). I finished at gone midnight and was back on court teaching at 9am! A whole lot of fun, apart from my knees and back the next day!

Danny Sapsford will be bringing his Brighter ideas (and some David Cup players) to Sundridge Park on Sunday 4th June for 3 hours of coaching and an exhibition match - one for your diaries!!
